Research

Research focus

Wireless systems where a lost or late packet has real consequences, and the network design that keeps them connected.

  1. 01Mission-critical machine-type communicationLink designs for URLLC traffic from sensors, controllers and machines, balancing reliability, latency and signalling overhead.
  2. 025G/6G physical layer & channel codingPolar, LDPC and convolutional codes, and short preambles and synchronisation for short packets. Evaluated with link-level simulation.
  3. 03Wireless mesh networks & gateway placementLoad-balanced placement of internet gateways in backbone mesh networks. The work behind a granted patent and an FGCS article.
  4. 04UAV, edge & AI-enabled networksNon-terrestrial and multi-hop topologies, edge and fog computing, and machine learning for communication systems.
